Canyon Man Sentenced To 25 Years

According to the Randall County District Attorney’s Office, David Allen Dewald of Canyon, was sentenced to 25 years in prison Wednesday, Feb. 7, after he was convicted on two counts of “Failure to Register as a  Sex Offender.”

The convictions were the result of a 2022 incident in which the CPD learned Dewald was not living at his registered address, but rather, living elsewhere, and using several online profiles and email addresses which also had not been reported as per the Texas Sex Offender Registration Rules.

Dewald has been required to register as a sex offender since 1999 after a conviction for “Indecency with a Child.”
