Cactus New Year’s Eve Crash Claims Life

A Cactus teenage boy is dead following a car crash near Dalhart on New Years Eve.
According to the Department of Public Safety officials, the 17-year-old was traveling west on FM 2577 when he failed to drive in a single lane.
His car went off the roadway, and he overcorrected his steering, went across both lanes, ran into a south ditch, and rolled the car several times.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, and alcohol is said to be a contributing factor to the wreck.
An autopsy has been ordered and blood results are pending.
The crash remains under investigation.
