Pigs aren’t flying, the sky is still blue, but the day many NFL fans thought they might never see has come.

Tom Brady has officially retired from the NFL after 22 seasons, countless records and a legacy that will outlast you, me and just about everyone.

Brady was taken by the Patriots 199th overall in the 2000 NFL draft and came into the league with little to no expectations.

He blew those expectations out of the water.

Brady’s unprecedented run of success began after he was shoved into the starting role following an injury to then Patriots starter Drew Bledsoe.  The team rallied around their new QB and rode him all the way to their first-ever Super Bowl victory.

Some stories might end there, but not Brady’s.

He would go on to lead the franchise to an NFL-record tying 6 Super Bowl wins before eventually departing for Tampa Bay.  It didn’t take him long to find success there too, as his first season with his new squad ended with him lifting (and throwing) the Lombardi trophy a 7th time.

By the time he retired Brady would be the sole owner of a mind-boggling 38 NFL regular season and postseason records, helping to put his amazing career into even more perspective.

The sports world has never seen an athlete or phenomenon quite like Tom Brady and likely never will again.

Brady cemented his place among the all-time greats regardless of sports, something only a handful of individuals have ever been capable of.

Thank you Tom, for everything.
