BHM- Country Singer Charlie Pride

Honoring Black History Month KGNC salutes country singer Charlie Pride (1934-2020)

Pride was the son of a sharecropper who had dreams of playing Pro-Baseball, before landing his first recording contract in 1965.

Until the early 1990’s he was the only African-American country singer signed to a major record label

His success earned him many accolades including the First Black member of the Country Music Hall of Fame

In celebration of Black History month, I’m Chuck Williams
