Arrest For Aggravated Assault
A man is behind bars after an aggravated assault
On March 11th at 2:04 AM, Amarillo Police Officers were called to the 1300 block of southeast 10th Avenue on an aggravated assault.
A 22-year-old male victim told officers that he had been at a bar in the 1200 block of southeast 10th Avenue where he was involved in a verbal altercation with another male.
The suspect got into a silver Ford truck and rammed the victim’s vehicle before leaving the scene. The victim saw the suspect again in the 1300 block of southeast 10th Avenue and the suspect again rammed the victim.
The victim told officers that the suspect shot at him, striking his vehicle, before leaving the area. Officers did locate shell casings in the area of the incident and bullet strikes on the victim’s vehicle.
An officer on patrol at I-40 and Washington Street saw a silver Ford truck driving erratically and hitting a curb. The officer initiated a stop on the vehicle in the 2000 block of South Washington Street.
The driver, 26-year-old Valentin Pacheco Moncada, was identified as the suspect from the incident on southeast 10th Avenue and was in possession of a firearm.
Moncada was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the Potter County Detention Center. There were no injuries reported from this incident.
