AISD Wants Bond Referendum For School Facility Improvement

The Amarillo Independent School System looked at three potential bond propositions that would improve various facilities, Thursday.

Proposed projects if passed in the May elections will total 232 million dollars. Proposition One would include school building renovations, while Proposition Two would make for facility upgrades and an 8-lane track at Dick Bivens Stadium.

Proposition Three will make for a new Natorium w  ith a 50 meter pool and diving well. If all of them pass voter muster, homeowners will pay an additional 11 dollars and 20 cents a month.

Officials stressed that no tax increase above the frozen level on the homestead of taxpayers 65 years old and older and who have applied for and received the “Age 65 freeze.”
