Wendler Not Going Anywhere

West Texas A and M University President Walter Wendler says “He’s not going anywhere, following a no-confidence vote in his leadership from staffers.

The university released the results of the no-confidence vote held against Wendler by the Faculty Senate on Tuesday, confirming that 69% of the faculty, or 179 faculty members out of the 261 who voted, had no confidence in Wendler’s leadership.

The no-confidence vote came after Wendler refused a planned on-campus “Drag Show” on the grounds it would be degrading and discriminatory towards women. A lawsuit had been filed.

Other complaints that led to the no-confidence vote include falling enrollment to encouraging students to go to institutions other than WT to stagnant faculty wages in a time of rising inflation and increasing administrator salaries.”

The no-confidence vote is non-binding and largely symbolic
