USDA Increases Income Guidelines

The USDA has updated income eligibility for Commodity Supplemental Food Program to help more low-income seniors.

Under the current guidelines, anyone who makes 1,396 dollars a month qualifies. Now, that means anyone making under 1473 a month now is eligible.

Zack Wilson Executive Director of the High Plains Food Bank says the effects of the pandemic, more and more seniors are being affected by choosing between food and other needs and the CSFP program gives a crucial stopgap in hunger for seniors in the Texas Panhandle.

Seniors who meet age and household income requirements can enroll in the program by providing proper identification.
