Astros Power Past Tigers

(Detroit, MI) — Robinson Chirinos, Jake Marisnick and Alex Bregman each belted two-run homers in the Astros’ 8-1 victory over the Tigers in Detroit. Aledmys  Diaz added a solo shot for Houston. Brad Peacock allowed one run over five innings to pick up the win as the ‘Stros extended their winning streak to six games.

Rangers Open Series Tonight In KC

(Kansas City, MO) — The Rangers will open a three-game series tonight against the Royals in Kansas City. SOD POODLES LOSE HEARTBREAKER 9-8 TO MIDLAND

AMARILLO, Texas – The Amarillo Sod Poodles dropped game one of their three-game series with the Midland RockHounds by a final score of 9-8 in front of a crowd of 4,387. Buddy Reed and Owen Miller each recorded four-hit games which is the first time in franchise history a Sod Poodles player has reached that feat. The Sod Poodles and RockHounds continue their three-game series tonight at HODGETOWN when right-handed pitcher Kyle Lloyd takes the mound for Amarillo. Lloyd will face off against Midland righty James Naile. Gates are scheduled to open at 6:00 p.m., first pitch at 7:05 at HODGETOWN in downtown Amarillo.

NBA Western Conference Finals Tip Off Tonight

(Oakland, CA) — The Western Conference finals tip off tonight in Oakland. The Warriors host the Trail Blazers in Game One. Golden State is chasing its third straight championship, while Portland will try to score an upset in the best-of-seven series. Warriors standout Stephen Curry will get to square off with his brother Seth Curry, who is a reserve for the Blazers.

NBA Draft Lottery Tonight In Chicago

(Chicago, IL) — The NBA Draft Lottery is tonight in Chicago. The New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns each have a 14-percent chance of landing the number-one overall pick. Whoever lands the top pick will be in line to select Duke forward Zion Williamson, who is considered the top prospect available. The NBA Draft is June 20th in Brooklyn.

Mavs Seeking More Info On Porzingis Fight

(Dallas, TX) — The Mavericks are investigating sketchy details of Kristaps Porzingis suffering a bloody gash over his right eye in an incident outside a bar in his Latvian hometown. The incident was shown on a TMZ video. Dallas acquired Porzingis in a January 31st blockbuster trade with the Knicks. A woman also accused Porzingis of raping her in New York after the trade. His lawyers deny the charges and have turned evidence over to the FBI, alleging extortion attempts. He did not play last season after tearing his left ACL and undergoing surgery in February 2018.

Texans Pick Up Veteran Taiwan Jones

(Houston, TX) — The Texans are adding veteran running back Taiwan Jones. Multiple outlets report he has signed a one-year contract. Jones appeared in six games with the Bills last season as the special-teams captain before going on the injured reserve with a neck injury. He played six years with the Raiders and the last two with Buffalo.

June Jones Named Houston XFL Head Coach

(Houston, TX) — June Jones has been named the head coach and general manager for the Houston XFL franchise. The league will kickoff its first season next February. Jones has been the head coach at SMU and Hawaii as well as the Falcons and Chargers in the NFL. He signed a two-year contract with Houston.

Wings Fall In Preseason Opener

(Atlanta, GA) — The Dallas Wings fell 82-59 at the Atlanta Dream in their WNBA preseason opener. The Wings will play tonight at the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena. The Wings tipoff the regular season at the Dream on May 24th.

College Baseball Roundup

(Undated) — Three Texas universities are in the Baseball America top 25 rankings. Texas Tech is ranked ninth and will host TCU in a three-game Big 12 series beginning Thursday. The Red Raiders have won five straight. Baylor checks in at 15th. The Bears lead the Big 12 with a 14-and-6 record and will play a non-conference game tonight against UT-Arlington in Waco. Texas A&M is 18th and will host fourth-ranked Arkansas in a SEC showdown series beginning Thursday.
