Train-Semi Truck Crash

A train crash with a Semi ended up with one man losing his life.

The crash happened on Highway 84, near Amherst at 11:00 a.m.Monday, when 25-year-old, Brent Michael Spahich was driving the semi south on CR 125 going towards the train tracks, north of the highway.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe, with dual engines and five rail cars, was traveling east on the tracks, and Spahich is reported to be crossing the tracks.  That’s when the vehicle crashed into.it

Spahich died while he was being taken to the hospital.

Five train cars were derailed as a result of the crash, BNSF says there were hazardous materials in the tank cars and efforts were being taken to remove them.
