Quanah Parker Honored with New Statue

Thanks to a generous donation, Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport is set to honor a panhandle legend.

Wednesday, May 18th at 10am a statue will be revealed of Quanah Parker, the last chief of the Comanche nation and a key figure in the foundation of the Golden Spread.

The bust was donated by the family of King Hill, whose father, Jack Hill, was the original creator of the piece.

King Hill will be in attendance for the event, as will Nancy Boles, a great-granddaughter of Parker.

The event will take place in the center corridor adjacent to the airline ticket counters on the second floor of the terminal building.
