Panhandle Fires-Mental Health

The recent Panhandle wildfires have brought attention to the mental health of people in the area.

In response to the mental health challenges, Texas Panhandle Centers has activated a disaster response team.

Mental health experts have been deployed to affected communities like Fritch, Borger, and Canadian, providing crucial support to those in need.

Some of the feelings the TPC is hearing include grief, sadness, frustration, anxiety, and depression, and they’re saying children are experiencing similar or like feelings.

Texas Panhandle Centers says to give children opportunities to talk with you and provide them with a safe environment.

During the aftermath, it is also important to be supportive of older family members, as they can sometimes be overlooked.

A 24-hour crisis hotline at (806) 359-6699.
