Moore County Deputy Vehicle Hit During Drunk Driving Incident

A Moore County Sheriff’s Office vehicle was struck by a drunk driver Wednesday night.

Officials say the incident happened at US 87 overpass near West 1st Street in Dumas.

The deputy was east on the overpass when Melissa Maddox driving a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle merged into the mane.

The Deputy was able to remove the driver, passenger and two children to a safe spot.

There were several opened alcohol bottles in the car and an open beer box in the back seat.

Maddox was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with child passengers under 15 years old which is a state jail felony.

The deputy was not injured and the other passengers refused medical services.
