Man Arrested After Standoff
A man was arrested Thursday after a brief standoff at a Potter County home, according to officials.
The Potter County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 7:30 a.m. regarding a verbal argument between the caller and her boyfriend, later identified as Charles Richard Hernandez.
The argument was verbal at first, but it escalated and became physical, and before deputies arrived on the scene, the victim was able to leave the home but Hernandez was still inside.
While attempting to make contact with Hernandez, deputies received no response and later learned that he is hard of hearing.
Because deputies couldn’t get in contact with Hernandez, deputies broke the bedroom window where he was believed to be.
This led to Hernandez exiting the home, uninjured and complying with deputies’ commands.
Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center for the second-degree felony offense of assault by impeding breath or circulation of a family member with a previous conviction.
