Judge Ruling Against the City of Amarillo over the Civic Center

Judge William C. Sowder, a Texas state judge, ruled on Tuesday against the City of Amarillo over the Civic Center Project.

The judgment comes after a recent lawsuit against the city by Alex Fairly, an Amarillo Businessman, earlier this year.

The ruling claims the City of Amarillo did not follow the proper law and procedure when it came to funding for the renovation and expansion of the Civic Center Project.

Judge Sowder ruled that the City of Amarillo cannot use “public works funding” since this project is not under the jurisdiction of receiving that type of funding.

The City of Amarillo is expected to pay Alex Fairly $351,613 plus attorney fees worth $25,000.

In addition, the city is expected to pay an additional $50,000 if they choose to appeal the ruling.
