Indigent Defense Council Formed

Potter and Armstrong Counties now have an indigent defense counsel.

The council has been formed to address the low number of att6orneys in the area.

The County received a grant in October from the Texas Indigent Defense Commission to spend nearly $1 million annually over four years to ensure the program’s success.

Since November, the Potter/Armstrong county indigent defense council oversight board has been searching to find directors for the public defender’s office and office for management of assigning counsel.

They already have six applicants to be interviewed and the council will give a response to the Court by the end of February.
