Dumas Fire Memorial

It’s been over 60 years agothat 19 firefighters gave up their lives to fight the Shamrock McKee Refinery Explosion.

Now those 19 firefighters are being memorialized with a service Friday night at Moore County Courthouse in Dumas at 6;30 p.m.

On July 29, 1956, the 19 firefighters dashed into the flames.

Dumas, Sunray, And Valero Emergency Srevices are participating in the Memorial.

The Shamrock- McKee blaze is listed as the fourth largest firefighter loss in the United States, Involving industrial or structural preotection.
