City Hosting Groundbreaking Ceremony For New Nonprofit

The City of Amarillo will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for Transformation Park on April 27th near Southwest Fourth Avenue, Southwest Fifth Avenue, and Parker Street in Amarillo.

The day will begin with lunch at noon followed by a “Pray the City” event at 1 pm, with the groundbreaking set to start at 2 pm.

Transformation Park is a collaborative effort between the city, area businesses, and churches, and will provide a day center, a drop-in safe space shelter, and temporary cabin-style housing to the homeless as an alternative to living on the streets.

The nonprofit entity is funded through a combination of American Rescue Plan funding, $1 million from Joe and Laura Street of Street Toyota, $500,000 from Hillside Christian Church, and more from various individuals and businesses.
