Borger High Speed Chase

Forty-nine-year-old Vicente Benavidez was arrested on Sunday on charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest, and an outstanding parole warrant from Arkansas.

On Sunday night, Borger Police tried to pull over a Toyota SUV, driven by Benavidez, that was reported stolen from Arkansas.

The SUV pulled over and stopped before driving away from officers. Police tried to stop him again but he pulled away and led police on a chase on state Highway 152.

Multiple law enforcement agencies joined in the chase to stop him, even by using stop sticks, but they didn’t work.

He continued onto farm and Market roads but eventually returned to highway 152 and Borger.

Eventually, the Hutchinson County Sheriff shot out the SUV’s side tires, but the Toyota continued to evade.

The SUV struck a deputy’s car, and a pole and rolled onto its side.

That’s when Benavidez was pulled from the vehicle, took him to the hospital for evaluation, and finally booked into Hutchinson
