Amarillo Public Library Preparing Curbside Book Pick Up Service

With Governor Abbott’s new executive order for Retail-to-Go the Amarillo Public Library is making sure that all safety measures are being met.

Starting today, the library will be working to get books that were placed on hold ready and on April 27th will start the book pick up for residents.

Public Relations Coordinator for the Amarillo Library Stacy Yates explains.

Library staff will accept phone calls between 9 AM and 6 PM every weekday and curbside pick-ups will take place between 10 AM and 5 PM.

In the case of a patron arriving at the Library on foot or bicycle, staff will have a drop off space and a waiting space marked so that materials can be placed for pick-up while maintaining a
safe distance.

All returns must be placed in exterior book drops. Library staff will not take returns directly from patrons.

Returned materials will be quarantined for 3 days, so returned materials will remain on a patron’s record for several days after return.

The 4-item limit on DVDs has been expanded to 8, but only 4 DVDs can be checked out per visit. This will allow patrons to access the Library’s DVD collection while staff can safely quarantine
returned movies for an appropriate time.
