Wednesday’s Covid-19 Press Conference Update

On Wednesday’s Covid-19 Press Conference City Health Officials gave an update on the rise of cases in Amarillo.

The City of Amarillo said that due to delays in reporting and a recent national shortage in lab testing supplies for COVID-19, information dating back as far as a week to a month ago would have an effect on the numbers.

This includes information in the categories of total positive cases, active cases and deaths.

There are 29 positive patients at Northwest Texas Hospital, 13 on ICU, 8 on ventilators with 18 of 40 available ventilators are in use.

BSA has 32 positive patients with 19 in ICU, 10 on ventilators and is using 50% of their ventilators.

The Amarillo VA says they have 24 veterans in self quarantine with 19 having recovered.

BSA and Northwest have declined to bring patients from south Texas and will move to reduce visitation to only 1 permitted per room between 9am and 1pm.
