Police Fireworks Calls Over The Fourth

If you think July 4th night was easy on Amarillo Police, you better think again.

Police officials say they had 313 calls involving fireworks. The majority of the calls were classified as disorderly conduct, where fireworks were the reason for the call.

However, many other calls came in as well like calls for disturbances, calls for trespassing, vandalism, and weapons.

The Amarillo 9-11 dispatch says they answered 1,351calls on the fourth.

From midnight to 4:00 a.m. on July Fifth, officers say 33 calls came in involving fireworks.

Add it all up and 169 calls were made to APD in that same time period. Police say each of these calls had an officer dispatched to them.
