Palo Duro Student Shot

Amarillo police are probing into a shooting at 24th and Polk Streets, Monday afternoon.

They were called out to the scene at 2:01 p.m. on reports of shots being fired.

A student on the tennis courts of Palo Duro suffered a shot to the hand, reportedly from a stray bullet.

Palo Duro and Whittier Elementary schools were immediately sent into lockdown, for student safety.

The student at Palo Duro was taken to the hospital for treatment for a non-life-threatening injury.

Palo Duro Issued a statement explaining the incident to parents and saying that the safety of all students is their highest priority.
