One Arrested And One Receives Minor Injuries After Auto Burglary
A 17-year-old has been arrested after breaking into a vehicle.
Just before 2:40 am on April 17th, a male and woman in the 1500 block of South Ong Street heard their neighbors dog barking and when they went to check on it they found two males breaking into the neighbor’s vehicle.
One suspect fled on foot while the other confronted the male neighbor and pulled out a knife he stole from the car.
Once police arrived they detained Sir Alek Jaeron Gonzalez and found several items from other vehicles from around the area and was booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
The victim received minor injuries from the altercation. APD would never ask or advise anyone to put themselves in harm’s way to detain a suspect.
The Amarillo Police Department would like to commend the victim in this case for their bravery in stopping this suspect and helping to keep their neighborhood and our city safe.
