K-9 Training At Lake Meredith for Zebra Mussels

Lake Meredith will soon become the center for training dogs to hunt out invasive species.

Zebra Mussel Conservation Dogs will be trained this weekend to find Aquatic Invasive Species like Zebra Mussels that are a threat to recreational and natural resources at the Lake.

The NPS and Canadian River Municipal Water Authority has partnered with the K9 team several weekends a year to help prevent contaminated boats from entering Lake Meredith. That’s been going on since 2018.

The NPS and Canadian River Water Authority also trains visitors to prevent the transportation of the mussels.

The inspection teams will be watching out for watercraft at the Lake from April 1st to the Third and on the second and third , the K-( Conservation Team will join inspection teams from Alberta, Canada.
