Greenery Maintenance Contracted Out

The City of Amarillo will contract out work to improve the management and maintenance of trees.

Amarillo Arborlogical, Inc. will get 450 thousand dollars under an agreement to maintain and manage greenery in parks and public building sites.

Trimming, pruning, removal, and planting of trees are all upkeep they’ll be involved in taking care of.

Amarillo officials say staff challenges – and since they were already spending the same amount of money – it made it easier to shift and contract.

Large staff reductions have already led the city to contract out work in several other city departments.

No more than $1.8 million in four years is expected to be spent on the greenery contract if all needs are met.
