DRAG SHOW AT WTAMU NO GO

A planned drag show at WTAMU will be happening on the college campus in Canyon.

The show was planned to raise money for the Trevor Project on March 31st, for suicide prevention in the LGBTQ community.

In a statement, Dr. Wendler presented a subject line in the email with “A harmless Drag Show? No Such Thing:.

He goes on to say the performance exaggerates certain aspects of womanhood and stereotype women in a cartoon-like extreme for the amusement of others and discriminate against women.

Dr. Wendler also goes on to say the drag shows are insulting and demoralizing misogyny and such conduct is counter to WT’s purpose, and as a university president, I would not support “blackface” performances on our campus, even if told a version is a form of free speech or intended as humor. It is wrong.
