Buffs On The Lookout For Scammers

Students of West Texas A&M University are becoming the targets of a scam.

The crooks are sending texts that appear to be from an employer about a job offer from an alumni who is looking for an assistant.

The scam has been circulating for several months now and WTAMU wants students to know some of the common tactics used by scammers.

  1. If it sounds too good to be true it is.
  2. Job offers made through a text message.
  3. The employer wants you to make a payment for the job.

For any student who falls victim to a scam, call the University Police Department at (806) 651-2300
