Amarillo Police – Scams

More scams are on the loose and the Amarillo Police want to warn you about them.

The department has received numerous calls of people posing as law enforcement officials and demanding money to relieve them from a warrant for failure to appear for a jury date.

Another scam going down has to do with immigration status.

This time, a person showed up at their door, claiming to be an officer, and convinced the victim to give them money to keep them from going to jail and being deported.

APD insists it does not do its business by phone calls, and if you happen to answer a scam call, hand up and contact your local police.

If someone shows up at your door, do not answer it.
