Amarillo Housefire Causes Evacuation

A house fire in Amarillo, Tuesday afternoon damaged two homes and caused neighbors to be evacuated.

The blaze took place at 2:45 p.m. at the home at 313 South Mississippi, when fire crews arrived they found the home fully engulfed in flames with fire spreading to a fence and a nearby home due to high winds.

Crews quickly knocked down the fire before entering the home.

AFD says the occupant of the home, made it out safely on their own and the neighbor to the south of them was evacuated, and about 20 feet of the fence was burned, with the adjacent home suffering minor damage.
