Amarillo City Council Votes To Have November Election

During Tuesday’s Amarillo City Council Meeting, Members passed an ordinance to hold a special election in November.

The election date will be on November 3rd and will have two different propositions such as staggered 4 year terms for the Mayor and City Council Members and for Council Meetings to meet every other week but not go over 24 meeting days per calendar year.

Councilwoman Elaine Hays voiced concern about needing to have time for the public to give their thoughts and that the November ballot would be crowded.

Citizens will have a chance to give their opinion during the August council connect that allows for a more relaxed and in depth setting for citizens to speak with two council members.
