Accidental Shooting

Amarillo Police are investigating the shooting of a child in Northeast Amarillo.

The child was left with serious injuries.

The shooting happened in the 1300 block of Aster at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

When police got there, a man in the home told APD his gun accidentally fired while he was cleaning it, hitting the child.

The child has been hospitalized.

The man and other occupants of the home have been interviewed, and the investigation continues.
