Xcel Energy Resuming In-Person Meter Reading

Starting today Xcel Energy will resume in-person meter reading for Texas and New Mexico customers.

New Mexico customers will start getting their in-person readings starting on May 18th.

The company says its notifying customers that they will be reading residential meters in the area through outbound calls and are also asking customers not to approach workers in the field, to help maintain social distancing guidelines and allow meter readers and field crews to do their work.

Xcel is also requiring all meter readers to wear protective masks while in the field and any employee who feels sick or has symptoms to stay home.

The company is also limiting the number of people in company vehicles to job sites
