Xcel Energy Filing For Increase

Xcel Energy is at it again by asking state regulators to let it charge more for electricity resulting in a boost of a little more than $2.60 a month for the average residential customer in Texas.

The company filed the request last Tuesday.

A temporary approval by state regulators could mean rates could go up by July 15th.

Xcel says the increase would apply to costs it wants to recoup for last year, not for any spending having to do with this year’s wildfires, according to a court filing.
