WT’s Distinguished Lecture Series Returns

West Texas A&M University’s Distinguished Lecture Series is back, and with a big list of individuals set to speak. 

Starting Monday, April 4th the series will begin with a two part presentation from scholars Lisa Dillman and Gregary J. Racz titled, “Spanish Literacy Translation in Motion.” 

The first part of the presentation will be a workshop consisting of multiple poetry and translation activities, starting at 12:30 pm in the Classroom Center Room 316 on campus. 

The second half will be a wider discussion on Spanish translation which will take place in the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex Recital Hall at 6:30 pm. 

Tuesday April 5th in Legacy Hall of the Jack B. Kelly Student Center, will have former “Blues’ Clues” host Steve Burns and his titled discussion “What happened to Steve?” at 7 pm. 

Attendees for that lecture are asked to bring a new children’s book to donate to The Leaders Readers Network, in a collection box placed at the entrance of Legacy Hall. 

Next up will be beloved poet and WT alum, Red Steagall and his presentation “Values of the Cow Country told in Story, Verse, and Song”, on Thursday, April 7th at 7 pm. 

Finally, the series will conclude with Dr. Gregory J. Wood and his discussion, “Anti-Union Workers and Conservative Backlash Politics During the 1937 Sit-Down Strikes.” which will take place on Thursday, April 14th at 6 pm in the Blackburn Room of the Cornette Library on campus.

 

All events throughout will be free to the public, with a Zoom option also available.
