WTAMU Hosting MLK Day Speech Reenactment And Scholarship Contest

West Texas A&M University will be celebrating Martin Luther King Day in a big way.

The University is having a live reenactment of the “I Have A Dream speech and a video essay contest.

The holiday is celebrated on January 18th and all Texas A nd M schools in the system will be closed to honor the civil rights leader.

The head coach of the Amarillo Venom, Julian Reese will deliver Kings famous speech at 12:30 p.m., January 19th on at the Buffalo Fountain on the Vaughn pedestrian Mall in the campus center.

The Black Women Association of WTAMU is sponsoring it’s first Martin Luther King Jr. Viseo essay scholarship contest with the theme being “Be the change you want to see”.

The contest is open to all WT undergrad students, including transfer students. Participating students must address the change they want to see, what they’ve done and what they plan to do.
