WT Nursing Students To Simulate Poverty

West Texas A and M University will have a chance to take part in an exercise that’ll simulate poverty from 9:00 a.m to noon, Wednesday, November 16th.

The simulation will take place at the Harrington Academic Hall, located at 720 S. Tyler St.

Students will live with a family for a month, having to go through navigating social services, finding work, and getting childcare, along with deciding how to use the finances that they do have.

Nursing school officials explain this is an important part of community health care because it developes empathy for the circumstances patients are going through.

WT nursing faculty members, along with Heal the city and Nurse Family Partnerships will help in running the simulation.
