WT Companion Dog Program

West Texas A and M University is starting a new program to give students the chance to learn about companion animals.

Two sections of Companion Animal Studies Are being offered this fall, specifically on dogs and cats.

Students will get a chance to experience with a therapy dog, named Willow Kate, the unofficial mascot of the program.

Recent research has shown a decrease in stress in people who interact with animals

As a turnaround, college students will benefit from Willow Kate being around.

The end goal is to get students interested in the companion animal field with jobs pertaining to boarding, nutrition, veterinary medicine, conservation working dogs and the beagle brigade.
