Women’s Tennis Starts Strong on Opening Day

Lady Raiders take home seven match wins in Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Texas Tech Women’s Tennis team opened the 2019 Spring slate with four singles wins and three doubles wins on Day One of the Orlando Invitational at the USTA National Campus.
Senior Lana Rush along with newcomers Kennedy Bridgforth, Denise-Antonela Stoica and Francesca Sella captured singles wins against student athletes from Rice and NC State.
Stoica dropped the first set of her match before battling back to defeat Priya Niezgoda of Rice (2-6, 6-3, 7-5). Bridgforth, Sella and Rush all picked up two-set wins including a 6-1, 6-1 showing by Rush and Sella.
In doubles play, Rush and Bridgforth teamed up to take down the No. 37-ranked Adriana Reami and Amanda Rebol (NC State), 6-4, for their first ranked win of the season.
