Woman Killed Walking On I-40 Overnight

A woman was killed walking along I-40 in Oldham County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says a pickup was driving west on I-40 while a woman, wearing dark clothing, was walking west in the outside lane.

The driver of the pickup attempted to avoid hitting the woman but was unable to do so.

DPS officials have identified her as 80-year-old Virginia Leutkahans.

She was pronounced dead on the scene and they believe she had a car crash shortly before being hit.
