(London, England) — Maria Sharapova is out at the All England Club. She was upset by fellow Russia Vitalia Diatchenko in her first-round match at Wimbledon. Sharapova had never previously lost in the first round at Wimbledon, going 13-and-0 in opening matches. Both Serena and Venus Williams will take the court today in round two.
England, Sweden Advance At World Cup
(Undated) — Only eight teams are left standing at the World Cup in Russia. England advanced on Tuesday by beating Colombia 4-3 on penalty kicks. Sweden also shut out Switzerland 1-nil as the Round of 16 came to a close. The quarterfinals get underway on Friday with Uruguay facing France and Brazil going up against Belgium.
