Astros Knock Off Tigers

(Detroit, MI) — The Astros built up a five-run lead as they knocked off the Tigers 5-4 in Detroit. Tony Kemp and Tyler White notched two-run homers for Houston and Jose Altuve added a solo shot. The bullpen combined for five shutout innings and Will Harris earned the win. Gerrit Cole takes the mound as the ‘Stros go for the sweep today.

Peacock Diagnosed With Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease

(Houston, TX) — Astros reliever Brad Peacock is away from the team after being diagnosed with hand, foot and mouth disease. Peacock is considered contagious and left the team in Detroit to return home to Houston. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out. He’s the third MLB pitcher this season to contract the disease.

Red Sox Clinch Playoff Spot

(Boston, MA) — The Red Sox are the first team to lock up a postseason spot in Major League Baseball. Boston clinched at least a wild card spot with a 7-2 win over Toronto at Fenway Park. It will be the third straight playoff appearance for the Red Sox, whose magic number to clinch the AL East is nine. Boston is 99-and-46, one win away from its first 100-win season since 1946.

Cowboys Sign G Su’a-Filo

(Frisco, TX) — The Cowboys are shoring up their offensive line. Dallas signed guard Xavier Su’a-Filo to a two-year deal yesterday with a 50-thousand dollar signing bonus. He started 16 games for Houston last season, but was cut by the Titans during the preseason. The Cowboys host the New York Giants on Sunday night.

Texans Place CB Johnson On IR

(Houston, TX) — The Texans will be without cornerback Kevin Johnson for the rest of the season. Johnson suffered his second concussion in less than a month during Sunday’s loss to New England. (College Station, TX) — Texas A&M is now the most valuable college football program. According to Forbes Magazine, the Aggies have supplanted the Texas Longhorns in generated revenue. Texas sits in the number-two spot, followed by Michigan, Alabama and Ohio State.
