The Amarillo Continuum of Care is looking for volunteers for their summer homeless count.
The group will be using an app survey that gets the count and with more volunteers that helps get a more accurate number.
When the count was down in January, nearly 800 homeless individuals were counted for with 330 of them being unsheltered.
The counts also help non-profit agencies in the Continuum of Care get their own funding to boost services and help Amarillo’s homeless.
Volunteer training will be Tuesday, July 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday, July 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Guyon Saunders Resource Center and the count will take place on Friday, July 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 a.m on Saturday.
