Update On Officer Involved Shooting

The Amarillo Police Department has released more information about the recent officer-involved shooting.

On May 28th at 6:37 p.m., officers were called to North East 19th Avenue and North Grand Street after reports of a Hispanic male who shot at a man driving down an alley, striking the vehicle three times.

The suspect then shot at family members sitting in a car. He approached them, but as he tried to shoot again, the weapon misfired.

No injuries were reported and the suspect left the area before officers arrived.

The suspect was identified as 22 year old Isaac Ray Ruiz, who police found on Wednesday, May 29th, during a traffic stop.

Ruiz attempted to flee, firing a weapon at police. Officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
