More Information On Officer Involved Shooting

An update on an officer-involved shooting that occurred after a traffic stop on Wednesday.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed was identified as 23 year old male Alexis Zapata, who was arrested for a Probation Violation warrant for Burglary out of Deaf Smith County.

An unidentified female in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for minor injuries before being released.

Three police officers who were involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave, per normal protocol.

This case is currently under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Special Crimes Unit and the Texas Rangers.
