Tx Gov Abbott Temporarily Relaxing Certain Pharmacy Regulations

Texas Governor Greg Abbott is temporarily relaxing certain pharmacy regulations to increase job capacities of Pharmaceutical techs and interns.

Under the new rules techs can take prescription drug orders by phone… a job normally done by the pharmacists

Also, technicians will be able to transfer or receive a transfer of original prescription information on the behalf of patients.

The Governor has also relaxed regulations to allow interns to assist pharmacists without a preceptor designation.

TTUHSC Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice Mary Klein says this alone will help with the workload a pharmacist normally has.
