Two Of Amarillo’s Finest Injured By Drunk Driver

Two Amarillo Police Officers were seriously injured after an intoxicated driver struck a police car.

At 2:59 a.m. two officers were blocking the westbound lanes of Amarillo Boulevard at Madison Street for a structure fire.

Two police vehicles were being used to block the roadway.

A 1998 Chevrolet Blazer driven by 34-year-old Angelo Ramos was traveling west on the boulevard and struck the first police car on the driver’s side.

The vehicle was then pushed into another police vehicle both were occupied by a single officer.

The two officers were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Blazer, Ramos was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of intoxication assault, alcohol was a factor in the crash and is being handled by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
