Two Alarm Structure Fire

The Amarillo Fire Department worked a structure fire Sunday evening at 5;00 P.M. in the 33-hundred block of Hancock.

Fire units arrived to find heavy smoke and fire between two houses and they began battling the blaze in the backyard, involving a shed, two cars, and a fence.

Downed powerlines were arcing and sparking making the firefight that much more difficult.

On making entry into the homes, they found heavy fire in the attic and had to call a second alarm to bring in more manpower.

Both homes suffered heavy damage, the backyard was full of trash and other debris including the shells of four cars, and fire personnel say this contributed to making it difficult to put the fire out.

No one was injured and a rehab crew was called to the scene to so that other crews could be rotated in and out of the fire.
