Tuesday Sports Update – Villanova Wins College Basketball Championship

(San Antonio, TX) — The Villanova Wildcats are the champions of men’s college basketball after beating Michigan 79-62 in yesterday’s title game in San Antonio. Villanova secured its second national title in three seasons and its third overall. Donte DiVincenzo poured in a game-high 31 points for the top-seeded Wildcats, who finish their season 36-and-4. Mikal Bridges added 19 points in the win. Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman had 23 points to pace the Wolverines, who were just 3-of-23 from behind the arc. Mo Wagner added 16 points for U-of-M, which finished 33-and-8.

Rangers Lose To A’s

(Oakland, CA) — Joey Gallo singled in the lone run for the Rangers in a 3-1 loss to the A’s in Oakland. Bartolo Colon allowed just one run over six innings before Kevin Jepsen gave up a two-run double in the seventh to take the loss. Texas is 1-and-4.
The Rangers and Athletics play the second of four games tonight in Oakland. Cole Hamels gets the ball for Texas opposite the A’s Kendall Graveman. Astros Cruise Past Orioles

(Houston, TX) — The Astros celebrated their championship banner unveiling by clobbering the Orioles 6-1 at their home opener in Houston. Marwin Gonzalez homered and Derek Fisher drove in a pair of runs for the ‘Stros. George Springer, Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman each plated a run apiece. Charlie Morton struck out six over six frames of three-hit ball to pick up the win as Houston improved to 4-and-1.
