Tuesday Sports Update – Rockets Lose To Warriors In Game One

(Houston, TX) — Kevin Durant and the Warriors offense couldn’t be slowed down as they went into Houston and beat the Rockets 119-106 in Game One of the Western Conference finals. Durant went off for 37 points on 14-of-27 shooting to help Golden State take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Klay Thompson connected on six threes, including a dagger to put the Warriors up 10 with 3:54 left in the fourth quarter. He ended with 28 points. James Harden did all he could to keep Houston in the game, but his 41 points on 24 attempts with five from behind the arc wasn’t enough. The Rockets were outscored 107-to-85 after leading 21-12 midway through the first quarter. Game Two is at the Toyota Center on Wednesday.

NBA Draft Lottery Tonight

(Chicago, IL) — The NBA Draft Lottery is tonight in Chicago. The Mavericks have a 13.8-percent chance to land the number-one overall pick and a 42.6-percent shot to stay in the top-three after finishing with the third-worst record in the NBA at 24-and-58. Phoenix has the best odds to get the top pick at 25-percent.

Golden Knights Top Jets To Even Series

(Winnipeg, Manitoba) — Jonathan Marchessault scored a pair of goals to help lift the Golden Knight past the Jets 3-1 in Game Two of the Western Conference Final in Winnipeg. Tomas Tatar started the scoring for Vegas as it bounced back from a Game One loss. The Lightning are at the Capitals tonight for Game Three of the Eastern Conference Final. Washington holds a two-game-to-none lead.

Rangers Open Series In Seattle Tonight

(Seattle, WA) — The Rangers open up a two-game series with the Mariners tonight in Seattle. Mike Minor will take the mound for Texas. The M’s will counter with right-hander Mike Leake. Astros Lose Opener In Anaheim

(Anaheim, CA) — Lance McCullers Jr. was outdueled by the Angels’ Andrew Heaney as the Astros lost 2-1 in the first of three in Anaheim. McCullers allowed two runs over six frames as he fell to 5-and-2. Max Stassi plated the lone run for Houston on a third inning single. The ‘Stros had won their previous two.

Texas Not On Board With Sports Gambling Despite U.S. Supreme Court Ruling

(Austin, TX) — There is still no sports betting in Texas even after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of letting each state decide the issue. Yesterday, the high court struck down a measure that banned sports betting in mosts states. New Jersey had challenged the ban claiming it was unfair to allow gambling on sports only in Nevada and just a few other states. The Texas constitution strictly regulates most types of gambling.
